John R. Baldivia is a litigation attorney at Pierce Law Group LLP working on general litigation matters involving breach of contract in the entertainment industry. John brings to the team a wealth of knowledge in copyright litigation, intellectual property, as well as music industry custom and practice.
Prior to joining Pierce Law Group, John practiced in copyright litigation for the plaintiff side. He comes from a background as a music industry professional, having worked 10 years for both major and independent record labels, including Universal Music Group, BFM Digital, and Clear Channel (now iHeartMedia).
John completed his J.D. at Southwestern Law School’s evening program while working full time for Universal Music Group. John has served as a judicial extern for Federal District Court Magistrate Judge Michael R. Wilner, where he researched and reviewed extensive case materials in state habeas actions. He served as staff for the Southwestern Journal of International Law, where he published an article on the music industry in China. He received his undergraduate degree in Arts, Entertainment & Media Management at Columbia College Chicago with a 3.9 gpa.
