PIERCE LAW GROUP LLP is a full-service boutique law firm established in 1996 in Beverly Hills, California serving the creative community, emerging start-up companies, and certain high net-worth individuals. The firm specializes in representing independent film and television producers and production companies, as well as counseling a wide variety of creative individuals and entities in their corporate and business affairs. The firm engages in both transaction and litigation with an emphasis on counseling for litigation avoidance.

David Albert Pierce

David’s practice encompasses all areas of the firm’s specialties and is engaged in both litigation and transactional matters. He is a frequent lecturer on the legal issues confronting the entertainment industry, and regularly teaches a course on running production companies at UCLA Extension, as well as, teaching Media Law & Ethics for Elon University’s Semester in L.A. program. He has also taught as an Adjunct Professor at LMU School of Film & Television, and was a guest lecturer at the University of St. Petersburg School of Film in St. Petersburg, Russia. He is an annual speaker at Slamdance Film Festival and for the Academy of TV Arts & Sciences on the topic of entertainment updates. David is a regular columnist for MovieMaker Magazine. He is a graduate of Cornell Law School. He has been accorded the status of “Super Lawyer” by Thomson-Reuters and “Million Dollar Advocate” by Top Trial Lawyers in America®. He is also a member of the Beverly Hills Bar’s Order of Distinguished Attorneys. David is a trustee on the Executive Board of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Southern California.

Tony works in the practice group areas of litigation, child labor matters, OSHA safety, union issues, labor & employment and regulatory issues. He also oversees the administrative matters for our law firm. Tony previously was a Senior Business Representative for Screen Actors Guild where he prepared a number of SAG publications regarding union interpretations of collective bargaining provisions. Tony is widely regarded as a preeminent expert on entertainment union collective bargaining agreements and their interpretations.

Trea Tran Lachowicz

Trea is a transactional entertainment attorney with an LLM in Taxation. She has experience in film and television finance, tax ventures, tax credits, securities law, corporate formation, film distribution, and general business and corporate law matters. Trea has represented producers, lenders, and investors from the beginning stage of structuring financing; to the due diligence and documentation stages of the transactions; and the preparation, drafting, and negotiation of various finance documents required for closing such transactions on films such as Keanu Reeve’s John Wick and Stallone/Schwarzenegger’s Escape Plan. Trea also helped form an L.A.-based distribution company, which produced and distributed several critically acclaimed Vietnamese language films, including The Owl and the Sparrow. Her entertainment financing and tax background, combined with her knowledge of distribution, allows her to meet the needs of the entertainment clients at Pierce Law Group.

A former New York City District Attorney, Joshua brings a wealth of experience in the entertainment industry, specifically in the area of talent representation where he has held several positions at prominent agencies, management, and production companies such as The Firm, Overbrook Entertainment, Don Buchwald & Associates, Mosaic, and MGMT Entertainment. Currently at PLG, Joshua specializes in transactional law within the film/television/music industry where his clients include writers, production companies and talented artists. Joshua is licensed in both New York and California, holds a law degree from the CUNY School of Law, and holds an MBA from Loyola Marymount University.

Dan is an entertainment litigator who focuses on intellectual property, with a particular emphasis on copyright issues. Dan has been involved in some of the nation’s leading music litigation cases, including multiple class action lawsuits against Sirius XM, Pandora, and Spotify, as well as individual suits on behalf of industry figures ranging from Quincy Jones to David Hyman. Dan is a graduate of Loyola Law School, where he was an editor and published author for Loyola’s International and Comparative Law Review. He leads the Projects Committee for California Society of Entertainment Lawyers and has authored multiple amicus curiae briefs for the Ninth Circuit and United States Supreme Court. His writings have appeared in the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journals, Los Angeles Lawyer, Computer & Internet Lawyer, and Techdirt.
